INFLUX OF FARMERS TO TUNDUMA - SUMBAWANGA DISCOVERED

As the opening  up of Southern highlands regions taking place through improving infrastructure including road networks particular the Tunduma- Sumbawanga  tarmac road which is on the way, it has revealed that there is an increase flow of people from other regions who purchase land along the road to Sumbawanga.

Villages along the Tunduma-Ikana road project which is under CCC company found having more immigrants who visits and negotiate with villagers on the land deal.

The land is sold between one  million shilling  per acre to two million along the road, of which people from western regions have seen as a potential deal and their has been a massive immigration of people in villages like Nkangamo, Chiwanda, Ndalambo and Nyenjele.

Because of its fertility nature, people in Ndalambo and Tunduma ward don't use fertilizer in their farms, this gives a super profits to their produce during the process of marketing since they fetch good price because of its organic nature, at the same get profit because of less cost they incur during the farming cycle.

Under the traditional right of occupancy scheme, farmers have a guarantee to obtain loan from financial institutions to mechanize agriculture with a collateral of land, this is a potential opportunity to new comes because of the fact that the inhabitant of the listed places have not well utilized such opportunities.

It is expected that by the end of 2014, the sociologists and community development practitioner predict to have a new-mixed up society that will foster development in areas where dominant single culture were existed for long. Tunduma -Ikana  road are among the areas which had low rate of immigrant previously but today with the construction of road, their likely to be effected and affected by culture intermingling.
